A
comprehensive collaborative process was created including a post occupancy
evaluation acting as a prelude for the architectural program. The design
solution was based on extensive research and teacher and student input.
Ideas that pertain to healthy environment, safe outdoor learning, parking
and accessibility were explored and developed. The final project resulted
from a process involving non-verbal dialogue between the built and the
natural, the old and the new and the design teach and school community.
The hierarchical relationship between indoor and outdoor spaces provides
a dynamic teaching/learning environment. The L-shape classrooms enhance
multiple teaching methods that emphasize trans-disciplinary learning,
and recognize students different cognitive styles and special needs.
