Southwest High School

Adams Group Architects is in the process of designing an extensive addition and renovation to Southwest High School in High Point, North Carolina. Guilford County Schools had made the decision to transform this school into a new arts magnet high school. The addition will add 265 much needed classroom seats. The addition will also contain a new auxiliary gym, new dining area and new media center. There will be significant upgrades and renovations including a new entry, upgraded technology and HVAC systems along with several cosmetic upfits. Unique to the design is a multi-purpose space designed to accommodate both gymnasium functions as well as theater performances. A number of classrooms will be renovated for dance, graphic arts, drama and broadcast arts activities. The construction budget is set at $7,541,000. The project is scheduled to be complete in Spring of 2006.
