Guiding a Church Planning Committee through a series of design workshops, Adams Group gave form to a new Family Life Center. This project involved master planning for the six acre site, located on a prominent street in Rock Hill. A key feature to the family life center is the Lodge entrance area. This section of the facility provides a lobby for the entire church complex. The lodge also functions as a childrenŐs performance space and an area for church receptions. The new multipurpose area functions for weekly dining, sports events and wedding receptions. The space is designed to open onto a lawn area that provides natural area for outdoor events. The design for the family life center combines a brick exterior with stone to complement the Gothic architecture of the existing church structure. The success of the project can be credited to the rerouting of the main street that originally divided the property owned by the church. Members of the Adams Group along with church members went door to door obtaining permission from shop owners to reroute the street. The end result connects the new family life center with the existing church.
