Weddington United Methodist Church
Weddington, North Carolina

Weddington United Methodist Church's new 850-seat sanctuary sits a top the highest peak in Union County. The Romanesque inspired tower boasts a copper roof and a cross 90 feet above the ground projecting the community image for the new center. Brick and precast detaining subtly tie into the existing buildings and provide an informal elegance requested by the building committee. The worship area and chancel is designed with seating in the round. This “gathering of believers” form maintains optimum sight lines and proximity to the speaker and choir. The warm and classic use of wood and stained glass is complimented by a state of the art organ, sound and theatrical lighting systems. The superior acoustics in the facility has led to some very high profile guest musicians. The church has been honored to host the Charlotte Symphony during their “Music in the Neighborhood” series. The soaring 50-foot ceiling and wood beams enhance the feeling of spaciousness in the newspiritual center.
